Group Project

Flamenco: Dance and Culture

For our small group project and presentation, I was excited to work with three other women, two of whom were international students from other countries: Colombia and Thailand.

At the end of our semester, after we presented our project, they pulled me aside and thanked me for working with them, communicating with them despite our language barriers, and for being the first student at SLCC who treated them with respect. They confided in me that none of them had positive communicative experiences with other students that they worked with in their other classes. I was quite surprised that other students at SLCC wouldn’t try harder to learn more about international students and be excited to work with them on a project.
